On this project I served as Digital Designer for the comprehensive redesign of the Oklahoma City Museum of Art website. I leveraged my experience as a former museum employee to redesign key elements of their digital experience. I focused on solving real visitor pain points: finding exhibition dates, film showtimes, buying tickets, and accessing virtual programming during COVID-19 pandemic restrictions.
My approach centered on four improvements: streamlining exhibition discovery, simplifying ticket purchases, creating intuitive navigation, and building virtual platforms essential during lockdowns. I developed a navigation system that dramatically improved content findability across all devices.
By implementing custom WordPress post types for exhibitions, films, and events, I created a system that was both flexible and easy for museum staff to manage themselves.
The results were significant: 40% fewer support calls about website navigation, 35% more online ticket sales during reopening, easier content management for staff, and expanded digital engagement through virtual exhibition access. We successfully balanced aesthetics with functionality during a critical transition period for the museum.
